Doctor Who (5.9): Parting is far from sweet sorrow
So – we’re back. We have human hostages and a Silurian hostage held below and above ground respectively, Amy was about to be sliced open by a nasty-looking laser-scalpel, and the Doctor and Nasreen (I do love Meera Syal – … Continue reading

The Archers: Tipping Point
Malcolm Gladwell describe a ‘tipping point’ as a moment of critical mass. He used it to explain how crime dropped dramatically in New York in the 1990s, but I will apply it here to something far more important: The Archers. Kick ass women: Glenn Close
Series 3 of Damages has just come to an end and I’m bereft. I love my weekly dose of the brilliant, evil genius lawyer that is Patty Hewes. Glenn Close plays cool, calculated manipulators better than anyone. Think back to … Continue reading

Waterloo Road: Tom and Kim in deadly danger!

Glee (19): Sweet dreams are made of this
I don’t know whose idea it was to give Mr Schue a rival to battle with instead of nemesis Sue, Terri-ble the ex-wife or sweet but mad as a bag of cats Emma – but they’re a genius. Neil Patrick … Continue reading

Casualty: Sometimes Ruth is really rather magnificent
Dr Ruth Winters is a funny little thing. Snappy, irritable, repressed, depressed, shy and very, very mean to Lovely Staff Nurse Faldren. But still I can’t help liking her, because she’s vulnerable. Continue reading

Doctor Who (5.8): Worse than four things and a lizard
Junior Hat and I were detained at a nice little wedding today, and thus missed the first fifteen minutes of The Hungry Earth. Having caught up (with the small one tucked up safely in bed), I think it was probably … Continue reading

Lustbox: Eric the Viking
Really, if you like your vampires tall, blonde and Nordic, you need look no further than Alexander Skarsgard. True Blood has so many marvellous moments, but the joy of series 2 for me so far is the expanded role that Skarsgard inhabits; … Continue reading
