True Blood 210: Bon Temps, Basildon of the South

Sookie and Jason were only gone a few days, but they returned to find Bon Temps in chaos: litter everywhere, drunken people staggering in front of cars, huge edifices of rotting meat hanging from hooks. It was nearly as bad as outside Essex Kebab and Pizza in Basildon on a Saturday night. Continue reading

Leaders’ Debate: An airhead’s view

I know all about making decisions, I am in the middle of making one right now. Its getting warmer and its time to decide….will it be Gladiator sandals, flip flops or ballet pumps this summer? Anyway I decided to show him I could take an interest in the Live Debate and besides, I love anything with Ant and Dec hosting. Continue reading

Prime Ministerial Debate: Cameron gets his Clegg over

This was an odd one.  To be frank it bored the pants off me. They were all practised and smoothed off to within an inch of their lives. They were all, for different reasons, scared to put a foot wrong. … Continue reading

Heston’s Gothic Feast: Barbie’s buried boobs

I’ve been watching too many cookery programmes this week, and my palate is getting jaded, although I would like to acknowledge the skills and delightful qualities of the entirely edible and eccentric young Bristol chef, Henry Herbert, who has sadly just been … Continue reading

Lustbox: The very versatile Steven Mackintosh

He’s not a very bulky bloke, but he has an amazing physicality – his characters are often at least a bit on the dark side, and he’s brilliant at understated menace and pent-up tension. He did a show-stopping turn in Prime Suspect 5, as Manc gangster The Street, all arrogant swagger and completely immoral. Continue reading

Waterloo Road: Children can be so cruel

Another below-par episode of Waterloo Road, with yet again a stand-alone storyline. Young Lauren and The Adorable Josh Stevenson quite fancy each other. However, Lauren has a secret – a large birthmark on her back. Continue reading

Brothers and Sisters: Say hello to Luc, wave goodbye to Roy

What to get your newish girlfriend for Valentine’s Day? How about a rubbish painting she’s been hankering after? Roy (the love child of Zach Braff and Gary Lineker) felt that this would be an adorable gift for Sarah, but at the same time he couldn’t help feeling that Sarah wasn’t quite as adorable as he’d thought. Continue reading

Holby City: Family-related shocks for Jac and Faye

I’ve said the words “poor Jac” once before. It was when she was trapped in a contaminated operating theatre with Joseph and she told him how she felt about him. Obviously feeling as I do myself about The World’s Most Beautiful Heart Surgeon, I could relate. And also, Rosie Marcel plays Ice Queen Jac so well that when she crumbles, you have to crumble right along with her. Continue reading
